One starving and neglected animal is one too many. We hope for a time in the future where no animal is ever starved or neglected. Sadly, right now we are still seeing more severely underweight animals coming into RSPCA ACT desperately needing our help.
When Kiah came into our care, she was underweight and her fur was matted. She had cuts on her face from a dog attack, and these cuts were covered in maggots. On top of this, she was also heavily pregnant.
In our care, Kiah gave birth to five healthy puppies. Caring for whelping mums and their pups require significant time, resources and more time in our vet clinic. One incoming animal soon becomes three, five or eight new animals to closely monitor, feed and care for.
We’ve also seen an increase in the number of pregnant animals coming into the shelter. We need your help today to ensure we have the resources to continue to care for them. Can you please donate today?
When the time came to find Kiah and her puppies a perfect home, our kennels team used their expertise to ensure Kiah and her puppies found homes that understood Maremmas specific care and environmental needs.
Unfortunately, as much as we’d like every single animal in loving homes by Christmas, we anticipate that our shelter will be full. The increase of underweight, and pregnant animals in our care puts even more pressure on us. Our team will need all the help we can get to do everything we can for those animals who will spend their Christmas at RSPCA ACT.
